Light Gets In

sightings from afar
"Light Gets In" is a work thematically exploring the inter-relations between acts of seeing, believing, and meaning-making. First conceptualised for the Fujinoyama Biennale 2020, the work thinks through Mt. Fuji as a subject, noting the mountain's symbolic and geographic weight in the physical and emotional landscape of local individuals, communities, and cities. Even a structure as large as Mt. Fuji can be obscured from our view, even in close proximity – how might that parallel the ways our beliefs and personal narratives change, shape-shift, and appear/disappear from our view?
